Farm heroes saga is a rather fan but sometimes tedious and difficult tile-matching video game, made by a company called "King".
In this one, you have to match at least 3 tiles of the same kind of farm-crop, or eggs, water droplets, or flowers.
Matching 5 of a kind will gather all of the same crops on the board, even those which need "cleaning" if a particular level has ''dirty" crops.
On the other hand, gathering a set where there is even one dirty crop will cancel all the lined crops.
The difficulty raises incrementally as you win each level, and you must win a level to unlock to one after it.
Each level has a set goal, of a certain number of crop types to gather, in a limited number of moves.
Some levels are quite easy and straightforward, whilst others have a sort of challenge to beat. This is the case of frogs who'll eat specific crops, or bunnies grabbing another kind, and yet others, you may find lots of barriers, flower-pods you must flourish to gather or to get rid of, or line-up numerous times to create eggs and gather them from hens.
Life system : when you start the app on facebook, you have 5 lives. Each time you win a level, your lives remains intact, but if you fail the minimum requirement to pass, you lose a level and have to start over.
Once you lose your first life, the game replenishes a life every 15 minutes, and to regain all 5 initial lives, you'll have to wait a total of 15*5=75 minutes, or 1h15. For my own needs, this is plenty enough, and I never used the real-money payment to replenish my lives faster.
As you play, you'll get bonuses, which you can keep for a more difficult level, and this is what I suggest, because there aren't so many of them as the "magic beans" which you can get by winning levels, and the first time you load your game in the day.
As of today, August 30th 2017, there are 1825 levels, in 118 chapters - which means that I have finished about 33% of it.
I enjoy it, and find the challenge interesting, and the incremental difficulty is rather well paces. My biggest complaints are those end of chapter levels with one "Rancid" to beat, and those are really extra tough.
Star & magic beans system: depending on how well you finish your levels, you may get 1, 2 or 3 stars, and these in turn give you different amounts of magic beans, up to 250, for you use to ease your level - at least theoretically.
There is no real logic in solutions to the challenges, and a lot of randomisation.
Depends on internet connection, as this is a game on facebook, though I haven't looked for an offline version.
Requirements :
- Internet connection (unless there's an offline version ? )
- Flash player
Here are images to show the game options, with my comments.
