Game- LOTR risk

The lord of the rings risk is a strategy game based on the lord of the rings where the map represents Middle-Earth and tokens are armies of this particular fictional world, initially created by JRR Tolkien.

2-4 people can play this game, where the armies are divided into good or evil, and thus each player or team is either must choose between these 2 options. There is no middle ground.

There are two main things that players must do : conquer territories through tactics, risk taking, and the randomness created through throws of dice.

The one ring represents the fellowship, heading from the Shire to the dead marshes, and serves to time to game : when it leaves the board, the game ends, and you count your territories.

Normal content :

Gameboard
4 Complete armies in different colors: (60 per color). These aremies are divided into soldiers, horses, eagles, and flags, which have different values of units.
42 Territory Cards (9 Good, 9 Evil, 24 Neutral)
2 Wild Cards
40 Adventure Cards
The One Ring
3 Red Dice
2 Black Dice
Rules

There are Leaders, missions and sites of power.

Components for the "Two Towers edition" (the trilogy edition, which I don't own, has 90 per army)

40 Elven Archers (good army) /Orcs (evil)
12 Riders of Rohan (good) /Dark Riders (evil)
6 Eagles ( good) /Cave Trolls (evil)
2 shields per color

I bought our copy second hand, and since there were a few missing army pieces, I took out the excess from the others and adapted the rules slightly - there weren't that many missing pieces and I had noticed it a bit too late to contact the seller.
There are many rules to this game, which takes time and patience to set-up, and get used to. Once up, though, it's highly addictive, a lot of fun, and outcomes can vary depending on tactics and random elements due to the dice. Don't think it's a fast game, not at all!

Contrary to many games I've reviewed thus far, this one shouldn't be played alone (though, you could, but you'd probably be quite bored or end up favoring an army over another).

LOTR risk is a perfect nerd game to share in long, cold and rainy winter days, especially with fellow lord of the rings and Tolkien fans.
